The Te Ako Manaaki Model is now being used to deliver attendance services across North and West Auckland. In its first year it has made a significant difference in both encouring schools to use the service to help get students with low attendance back to school, and linking those students in with the supports and services they need.
The North Auckland Integrated School Support Service, and Attendance West have both helped use, test and refine the model to use the attendance service context. We're delighted with the results and more importantly the impact they have had in ensuring as many young people as possible are attending school regularly. Education is important both in laying out the best possible future for our tamariki and rangatahi, and in breaking cycles of poverty and deprevation.
